ALL IN GOOD TIME

2 Cor. 6:2

“God says, "In the time of my favor I heard you,

and in the day of salvation I helped you."

I tell you, now is the time of God’s favor, now is the day of salvation.”

It seems to me that Christians can have two different problems with God’s timing; they can either fail to act when God says, “move” and miss an opportunity, or they can go ahead and act when God says, “wait”  and fall right on their faces.  In my experience, the first is far more common than the second.  And with regard to God’s grace and the day of salvation, Paul makes it very clear . . . you wonder when is the right time?  Stop wondering.  The right time is NOW!  God’s grace doesn’t turn on and off; God is always gracious.  And we don’t have to wait for a special season or day or hour for God to grant repentance and faith.  Christ is always ready to receive those who trust Him and submit themselves to His lordship.

While I was thinking about this verse, for some reason, it reminded me of a song we used to sing that says: “When the Spirit of the Lord comes upon my heart, I will dance like David danced,” and “When the Spirit of the Lord comes upon my heart, I will sing like David sang.”

You know, David didn’t dance before the Lord because he thought he was a great dancer.  David danced because he wanted to worship a great God . . . and the Spirit said, “Dance.”  David probably did have a great voice, but that really doesn’t matter, he wasn’t singing to show off his voice; he sang God’s praises because God is infinitely worthy of praise . . . and the Spirit said, “Sing.”

I guess what I am trying to say is this: God has heard you and His Spirit is moving, so whatever the Spirit has put in your heart to do, do it now!
